Non-profit organizations have a different "feel" in the way the site needs to conduct transactions. A standard, typical shopping cart system is clumsy and too product based to give the online patron the aura of "contributing" and participating in a cause or charity. Instead the "forced" ecommerce seems contrived and cold and fails to encourage additional giving. eCubedORG's most notable innovation is the "Giving Center" concept. It encourages gifting and other opportunities for financial support. It's main design and flow result from the need to integrate various membership, contribution and event/ticket "products" and center them around the "Giving Center" which replaces the old "Continue Shopping" function that regular eCommerce Systems use. The "Giving Center" asks the Patron if they wish to contribute to other areas, as well as, brings up the idea of giving a gift or making a donation "in honor of" or "in memory of" another individual. After each contribution, the Patron is brought back to the "Giving Center". At this point, once they are finished, they proceed to the "checkout" function, which then returns to a standard, yet advanced, shopping cart style system. To round out the stability and power of the system, your information is stored in an MS SQL database, protected by a unique user id and password. This not only protects your data but also provides a base for integrating with your in-house systems. |
